The Inflation Reduction Act made the largest climate investment in U.S. history - approximately $369 billion for clean energy tax credits, electric vehicle incentives, and methane reduction. It also allowed Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices for the first time and extended Affordable Care Act subsidies through 2025. The bill passed on a perfect party-line vote in both chambers. Vice President Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking 51st vote in the Senate. President Biden signed it on August 16, 2022.
